Ribbon Skirt Making Workshop
We came together for a Ribbon Skirt Making workshop, our final Sixties Scoop Healing Gathering. Our room was full of Sixties Scoop Survivors and Descendants who were honoured with Gifts and a Feast of Salmon and Wild Rice. GrandMother Nukumi led us in a Drum Blessing and Teachings, reminding us that Drum teaches us to slow down, to listen, and to feel deeper Pulse beneath our own hurried rhythms. That shared Heartbeat held us across each Gathering, through Ceremony, Story, and Creation.
In our closing Circle, We honoured Vision that sparked this Sixties Scoop project: a call from Spirit from GrandMother Darlene Gilbert’s Heart—a call for True Healing, toward deeper work our people have always known how to do. Many spoke of what it meant to finally be met with Love instead of judgment, to feel progress that comes not from rushing forward but from being supported to move at our own pace, seen, and welcomed home.
As We closed, gratitude rose for Courage of every Survivor, for All Descendants who witness and carry forward these Truths, and for Circle that has formed— a Circle We pray will continue to widen, strengthen, and hold all who still need to arrive.
