Greetings from LIFE as Medicine

The Sun is high, the Rivers are warm, and the Land is in full bloom—inviting us into deeper connection with nature and with each other.

We at LIFE as Medicine are blessed to have enjoyed an abundant and fruitful time as we reflect on our work protecting Mother Earth and our Sacred Water, challenging systems of oppression and healing our minds, bodies and lives together in community.

Later in the Fall we will be offering two land-centered gatherings in Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. We will have another opportunity to gather again
by the Fire, to honour Sacred Water and Land through Song, Ceremony, and creative exploration. We’ll gather in community and engage with natural art materials respectfully gathered from Earth Mother. These expressive arts experiences are designed to nourish the Heart, Body, Mind, and Spirit.

Thanks to the generous support of the Sixties Scoop Foundation, registration is offered at no cost to all Sixties Scoop survivors, their families (and chosen family), and descendants.
As always, we hope to see you there.

Basket Weaving Workshop

Basket Sixtiescoop 18
Saturday 26 July, we gathered in Sipekne'katik (Shubenacadie) for a Basket Weaving workshop facilitated by Ashley Sanipass a Mi'kmaq artist and knowledge keeper.
The day was spent swapping stories and sharing delicious wholesome food as we learned the ancient art of basket weaving in community.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the National Sixties Scoop Foundation for supporting LIFE as Medicine to deliver this healing workshop.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People

On May 5th, GrandMother Darlene Gilbert led a powerful march from Peace and Friendship Park to the Rotunda in the Public Gardens, standing in Ceremony and Resistance for our Stolen Sisters. We walked to honour the lives of those taken by violence—those who never made it home, and those who still live in the shadow of fear. As Red Dresses moved with the wind along Spring Garden Road, we raised our drums and voices in song and sorrow, calling out the names and spirits of the missing and murdered. This is a mourning for our kin, and a call to dismantle the colonial systems that continue to neglect and endanger
Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People.

Me As Tree: We as Forest Gathering

We were lucky enough to gather and have time away on the land reconnecting with source energy as we welcomed in our Ancestors, as we sang, prayed, and spent time reconnecting with the magical nature of nature and connection to each other and to the Ancient Ones.

ReMatriating Mother Earth

Following on from Me As Tree:We as Forest we gathered again to explore our connection to Earth Mama. We journeyed through the four doors in Ceremony and reverence guided by our powerful GrandMothers in Spirit and Song.
The weather was challenging and we honour with deep gratitude our Sacred Fire Keepers who kept our Flame burning through the toughest of conditions.
