Empowering Women and Girls Through Art Therapy
Facilitated by Jean Tait, Artist/RCAT & Chris Larsen, Artist/Art Therapist
This immersion course is suggested for those in the caring professions (Art Therapists, Social Workers, Counsellors, Nurses, Expressive Arts Therapists, etc. ) and students in those professions.
This offering will be an Indigenous perspective on the stages of life from girl-becomes-young woman; to life-giver/adult woman; to ‘wise woman’ Matriarch/Elder. Using traditional Ancestral teachings, videos, guest speakers, artmaking, reflective writing, and circle sharing, we will look to recapture our connection to the Sacred Feminine and women’s bodies at each of these three stages of life.
Self-reflective art through self-portraiture will be the mirror through which these life stages will be accessed.
Basic art supplies will be required, and a willingness to engage in the virtual sharing circle through Zoom. Students attending for credit will have a written assignment to complete for this course.
This workshop is for those identifying as women.
