Collaborate with us!

We understand from our First Voice Leadership Team, that Sixties Scoop Survivors from Mi’kma’ki have not been given opportunities for Gathering, or resources for much needed healing. We are beginning this process by hosting networking spaces for Sixties Scoop Survivors, their families and descendants in land-based and arts-based events. Cultural supports from Indigenous artisans and cultural knowledge holders will be provided along with opportunities for individual, family and group sessions with qualified Indigenous and Indigenized therapists.

Flowing from our Opening in late September and our event December 2nd with Andrea Currie’s reading from her book Finding Otipemisiwak: The People Who Own Themselves, we are offering future Gatherings as guided and shaped by input from First Voice Sixties Scoop Survivors.

This ongoing initiative happens online, each Thursday beginning at 6:30pm Atlantic Time.

There is no registration required and no charge to participants. Just use the link below to join us on Zoom!

Fyre is a two-spirited resilient survivor, a Métis Grandmother, healer, heARTist, activist, and educator. Fyre specialises in creating a sustainable expressive arts healing practice through an Indigenous, eco-arts-based lens. Working in education and social work for over forty years, she/they have consistently challenged individuals and organisations to examine their oppressive, eurocentric, patriarchal attitudes and practices. In addition to this, Fyre is the author of Circle Works: Transforming Eurocentric Consciousness (Fernwood 1998) and Healing Wounded Hearts (Fernwood 2005). Still emerging is the newest book LIFE as Medicine: Creating TransFormative Change. Being a knowledge keeper and community activist, Fyre Jean is an incredibly powerful and grounding person to talk with.
