Art Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapies Labour Market Survey - Summer 2023
LIFE as Medicine: Circle of Indigenous Healing Arts
We are a Circle of First Nations, Métis, Inuit & Ally Creative and Expressive Arts Therapists who are envisioning, enacting, reviving, and promoting Transformative Healing Arts for and with Indigenous Peoples and Communities. With over 50 years of combined experience, our Leadership Team is eager to lead the way for future generations to bring Healing Arts to our communities in ways that honour Indigenous Knowledges, Knowledge Keepers, and Land Based Practices.
Our Purpose
Our primary purpose is to promote Transformative Healing Arts by, for and with Indigenous Peoples and our Allies through Education, Social Advocacy and Collaborative Creative Experiences. LIFE as Medicine is currently in ongoing processes to become accredited to offer more formalized training in Indigenous Healing Arts.
We Need Your Help
One part of the process in becoming accredited as a private career college in Nova Scotia is to gain insight into existing employment opportunities for Art Therapy and/or Expressive Arts Therapies graduates who are living and working in the province. We would sincerely appreciate it if you could take approximately 10 minutes to give us some information about your experiences obtaining and sustaining employment in Nova Scotia. We are also curious about your previous educational experience in learning to support Indigenous populations and your interest level in gaining more culturally specific training through our professional development offerings. Lastly, we have included a question around how your Art Therapy and/or Expressive Arts Therapies practice supports you personally in preventing burnout and if collaborative creative offerings from LIFE as Medicine could be of assistance in sustaining you as a helping professional in the field.
Some of the questions on the survey will be specific to Atlantic Canada and/or Nova Scotia. Please answer the other questions if you are not in this region as it will still assist in an overall recognition of the need for Expressive Arts and Art Therapy training in our application.
